ABOUT
My name is Michelle and I’m the owner of UniquelyU. I call beautiful Alberta, Canada home but travel abroad as a full time RV'er. I am a mother of two amazing teenagers and have been a wife to my incredible husband for 20 years.

I am a Somatica sex and relationship practitioner and also trauma certified in ISPW (Integrative Somatic Parts Work), and ISTT (Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy).

Why I became a sex and relationship practitioner

My life has been filled with its share of challenges, just like many others out there. I've experienced sexual oppression, received damaging messages, endured trauma, and spent many years living in a stagnant marriage. I had boxed up my true self for nearly a decade, suppressing who I really was and who I wanted to be. But then, through a series of painful events, I reached a point where I had to confront these issues.
The events that took place that lead to facing these things was incredibly tough, but looking back, it was one of the most transformative moments in my life. As I embarked on my own healing and self-discovery journey, sexual and beyond, I came to a powerful realization: I wasn't alone. There are so many people out there who have faced or are currently living with similar storms. Most of whom are facing them alone, out of fear or shame,

That realization ignited a deep desire within me to help others in the realm of sex ,relationships, and trauma. I have a genuine passion for connecting with, discovering, and supporting people in their own unique ways and at their pace, to deepen their intimate connection with themselves and those around them. Why? Because all deserve to experience true fulfillment in our relationships, pleasure, and to shamelessly embrace our authentic selves.

The Somatica Method

The Somatica® Method is a holistic, mind and body, approach in learning about yourself and others in the realm of sex and relationships. The awareness and understanding of ones intellectual and embodied knowledge helps move people from habitual patterns to choicefulness.

The Somatica Method is a form of sex and relationship coaching that combines techniques such as breath-work, touch, verbal communication, and other tools to help individuals and couples explore their desires, boundaries, and patterns of behavior. It emphasizes the importance of building self-awareness and self-acceptance in order to create fulfilling and healthy relationships and living. In addition to focusing on pleasure and intimacy, the method also addresses common issues that can arise, such as communication breakdowns, attachment styles, inner wounds, shame, dating struggles, triggers, and more .
How the Somatica Method differs from traditional talk-based therapy
1. Embodied Approach: While traditional talk-based therapy primarily focuses on talk and the mind, the Somatica Method takes an embodied approach that values the importance of accessing and integrating the body’s wisdom. It recognises that our bodies hold valuable information, emotions, trauma, and experiences. By incorporating body awareness, movement, and sensations, clients can access deeper layers of their experiences and facilitates a more holistic process.
2. Experiential Learning: Learning happens through experience rather than just talking about issues. Clients are encouraged to engage in practical exercises, role-plays, and experiments to actively explore and understand their emotions, needs, desires, and boundaries. This hands-on approach allows for greater self-discovery and opportunity for clients to practice new skills, behaviours, and ways of relating in a safe and supportive environment with a practitioner.
3.Integrated Feedback: In the Somatica Method, practitioners provide direct and honest feedback to clients during sessions. This feedback helps clients gain awareness of how their words, body language, and behaviors affect others. By receiving real-time guidance, clients can make adjustments and cultivate healthier ways of relating.
4. Personal Choice: Only you know what is best for you. By honoring personal choice, practitioners support clients in cultivating lasting transformations that are in alignment with their values and aspirations. By valuing and respecting individual agency, the method encourages clients to take an active role in their own growth, fostering a sense of ownership and authenticity throughout their journey.
It's important to note that this method is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Each person and relationship is unique, and the method is designed to be flexible and adaptable to the specific needs and goals of the individual or couple. It is designed to be a collaborative and personalized process. It can be an effective path for those looking to improve their relationships and enhance their overall sense of well-being.
